PLAY Leadership Homeless Donation Drive
The Bay Area’s homeless crisis was severe before the coronavirus and the pandemic has certainly made it a lot worse.  In a joint effort with the Angels Foundation, PLAY Leadership is launching a homeless drive to help more than 400 unhoused people in San Jose.

We are currently collecting the following items:
1. Adult and kids spring and summer clothing, new or gently used (must be laundried)
2. Adult and kids shoes, new or gently used
3. Adult and kids socks, preferably new or nearly new
4. Adult and kids brand new underwear
5. Snacks
6. Soft drinks
7. Personal hygiene products (99 Cents store products OK): soap (highly requested), deodorants (highly requested), toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, mouthwash.
8. Homemade cards with motivational notes and/or drawings (can claim volunteer hours)
9. Money donations in cash, check (pay to: PLAY Leadership) or Paypal to: [email protected]

Kids Against Hunger is a non-profit humanitarian organization with a mission to provide fully nutritious food to impoverished children and families around the world.


The organization does this through the packaging of a highly nutritious, vitamin-fortified soy-rice casserole by volunteers at numerous locations within the USA and Canada; and the distribution of those meals to starving children and their families in 70 countries through partnerships with humanitarian organizations worldwide.


Since its launch, Kids Against Hunger has provided over 2 billion meals for children and their families in 70 countries through the efforts of hundreds of thousands of volunteers.

TheSpecial Olympics Basketball Volunteer REGISTRATION IS NOW BEGINNING!

 For the 16th consecutive year, the Amador Valley schools are host for the Special Olympics East Bay Regional Basketball Tournaments.

 Volunteers: Must be high school age or older, adults welcome, children under high school must be accompanied by an adult or older sibling. 

Approximately 350 volunteers are needed for this event.

Relay For Life of Tri-Valley serves the communities from Danville, San Ramon, Dublin, Pleasanton, and Livermore. 

Relay for Life honors those who have battled cancer, survivors, those who have lost their life to cancer, as well as those who are fighting the battle.  

Teams are organized to raise funds for cancer.  Anyone may walk a lap during the 24 hour event.   Lighted Luminaria bags which honor those who have fought cancer are placed around the track.

VOLUNTEER FOR THE COVID-19 FACE SHIELD DONATION !

PLAY Leadership is organizing a face shield drop off to support our medical workers to fight COVID-19. We are calling on PLAY Leadership members to hand make face shields and drop them off, and PLAY Leadership officers will package the face shields and donate them to Bay Area hospitals.

Email [email protected] to get the address to drop off completed face shields. In your email, also include a picture of yourself making the face shields and the quantity of face shields you made.


Time spent making face shields will be counted as volunteer hours. Bring your volunteer form to the drop off address when delivering completed face shields to get your form signed.

PHIG Gardening Work Party

Time: 6/13 and every Sunday 9AM - 12PM

We are restoring an abandoned site used for overflow parking to a lovely, natural, water conservation wildlife habitat garden using no pesticides or herbicides with plantings of natives and drought tolerant plants.


What to bring when you come: please bring along your favorite garden tool(s), since we have only a few on-site. We also recommend that you bring drinking water, sunscreen, gloves and a hat ....you're a delicate plant too!   


Please print and sign this PHIG Release Form and bring with you when you arrive at the garden.

Open Heart Kitchen serves prepared, nutritious meals free of charge to the hungry people of the Tri-Valley area.


It is the largest hot meal program of its kind in the Tri­-Valley Area of Northern California, feeding the hungry 7 days a week across multiple locations in Pleasanton, Livermore and Dublin.


There is no qualifying process and meals may be eaten at numerous serving sites or taken to go. Guests come from all walks of life and Open Heart Kitchen has become a safety net to those in need during challenging times.


Last year, Open Heart Kitchen served more than 328,000 meals to those who needed it.

Silicon Valley Homeless Distribution

PLAY Leadership joins Silicon Valley Distribution team to distribute food and supplies to unhoused encampments in San Jose.


Time: 6/12 and every other Saturday 10:30AM - 2PM

Location: Parking lot at 1731 Technology Drive, San Jose, 95110

 We will sort and pack donations about 150 sacks full of food and supplies for about one hour.  At 11:30 we will break into 5 different teams and drive to about 10-12 different encampments to deliver the food and supplies to the unhoused. This usually takes about 2 hours. 


If you have these items that you want to donate, please feel free to bring them:

  • Masks
  • T-shirts for adults/New socks
  • Individual sized snacks (chips, cookies, etc.…)
  • Non perishable canned food
  • Used shoes
  • Fresh apples or oranges

​Founded in 1977, the Alameda Food Bank is a non-profit organization that helps Alameda residents in need by providing nourishing food in a compassionate and respectful manner with the support of dedicated volunteers and local partners.


The Food Bank’s mission is to provide nutritious food to the low-income residents of the City of Alameda on a non-discriminatory basis.


In addition to its regular food distribution programs, the Food Bank is Alameda’s distribution site for USDA government surplus food.
